According to recent central bank gold statistics, Poland has emerged as the top buyer of gold in the first half of 2026, acquiring a substantial 82 tonnes. Uzbekistan comes second with 41 tonnes, followed closely by China and Kazakhstan. Other major net buyers include the Czech Republic, Singapore, Chile, Jordan, and Ghana.

Turkey stands out as the largest seller of gold year-to-date, having sold a significant 83 tonnes. However, it's worth noting that most of these sales took place in the first quarter, with only a modest 4 tonnes sold in the second quarter. Russia also recorded net sales of 44 tonnes.

The data is based on publicly reported changes and does not include unreported buying or selling activities. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) reports its gold reserves quarterly, which may affect the accuracy of monthly totals.
