Polish Wheat Prices Reach $250/t Amid Transportation Hurdles
The price of wheat has risen to $250/t at Polish ports for September delivery contracts. However, this higher price is not translating into attractive profitability for many farmers due to high transportation costs.
According to market analysts, the main challenge remains the cost of transporting grain from farms to port terminals, which significantly reduces ex-farm prices and leaves producers with returns below the quoted port prices.
Farmers located farther from the Baltic coast are the most affected by these logistics expenses. These costs substantially reduce marketing margins and offset much of the benefit from stronger port prices.
