Powerus Lands $22.3M Contract to Protect Middle East Oil and Gas from Drone Threats
A US-based company, Powerus, has secured a contract worth approximately USD 22.3 million to provide networked counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) detection and tracking capabilities to protect critical oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East.
The system will offer a unified operational picture through command and control capabilities located at the customer's operations centre, enabling operators to identify, track, and assess potential UAS threats across their operating environment.
This contract comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with several Middle Eastern countries reporting drone attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in recent months. Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a refinery in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, while an oil storage facility in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates reported that it had been targeted in March.
