Precious Metals Prices Drop on Friday

Gold and silver futures closed lower on Friday at the New York Mercantile Exchange.

December gold futures fell by 2.88 percent to settle at $4,529.90 per ounce, while September silver futures dropped 2.37 percent to close at $67.786 per ounce.

The decrease in precious metals prices followed a dip in oil prices on Friday.

West Texas Intermediate for October delivery lost 13 cents, or 0.16 percent, to settle at $83.40 a barrel.
