Precious Metals Prices Rise on NYMEX
New York's NYMEX (New York Merchantile Exchange) reported on September 4 that precious metals prices have increased. The NYMEX, a US futures market founded in 1882, saw gold futures rise by 1.48% to $4491.70 per troy ounce. Silver futures also gained ground, up by 1.49% to $66.54 per troy ounce. Platinum futures experienced a similar increase, rising by 1.49% to $1809.80 per troy ounce.
The measurement unit for these prices is 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams), as specified by the NYMEX. The exchange operates through its two divisions: the NYMEX Division and the COMEX Division. The former handles trades of oil, gas, platinum, palladium, ethanol, coal, electricity, and carbon dioxide emissions, while the latter is responsible for gold, silver, copper, and aluminum.
