PSX Soars Over 2,100 Points Amid Oil Price Dip and Easing Geopolitical Tensions
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw a significant surge on Monday, with its benchmark KSE-100 index gaining over 2,100 points due to renewed investor optimism.
The index settled at 178,200.02, up 1.20% from the previous close of 176,094.12, driven by a robust buying momentum across major sectors following a sharp decline in international oil prices.
Cement and fertiliser companies led the advance, with stocks such as Fauji Fertiliser, Meezan Bank, Lucky Cement, Pakistan Petroleum, and Engro Holdings contributing to the index's rise.
KTrade Securities noted that easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East boosted investor confidence, while AKD Securities' Director Research Mohammed Awais Ashraf commented that progress towards a US-Iran agreement could provide further support to market sentiment.
