Punjab Has Sufficient Wheat Stocks Amid No Shortage Reports

Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province, has a stable supply of wheat and flour to meet its domestic food requirements. According to District Food Controller Attock Shams Abbas, there is no shortage reported in markets across the province.

Shams Abbas urged consumers not to panic-buy flour or form queues, stating that adequate supplies of quality flour are readily available in markets and bazaars. He dismissed reports of a wheat or flour shortage as unfounded, noting that the current supply situation remains stable and significantly different from shortages witnessed in previous years.

The province produced around 21.9 million metric tonnes of wheat during the current year, exceeding its estimated annual requirement of approximately 16.5 million metric tonnes by nearly 33%. The surplus stock could also help support food requirements in other provinces, according to Shams Abbas.
