Punjab Pegs Wheat Release Price at Rs3,800 Amid Flour Supply Concerns

The Punjab Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department has set a new wheat release price at Rs3,800 per 40 kilograms in Pakistan. The decision was approved by the Punjab Cabinet, and a formal notification has been issued.

The measure aims to ensure a continuous supply of wheat and flour across the province to prevent public inconvenience. According to the department's spokesperson, the initiative will help stabilize flour prices and make bread available at Rs15 per loaf.

The provincial government has also been directed to purchase 300,000 metric tons of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) under which Punjab has been approved for immediate supply. The procurement price of wheat from PASSCO has been fixed at Rs4,150 per 40 kilograms.
