Punjab Sets Wheat Release Price at Rs3,800 per 40 Kilograms

The Punjab government in Pakistan has set the wheat release price at Rs3,800 per 40 kilograms, effective immediately. The decision was made by the provincial cabinet as part of measures to ensure a steady supply of wheat and flour across the province.

A spokesperson for the food Safety and Consumer Protection Department stated that a formal notification had been issued following the cabinet's approval. This move comes after the Federal government directed Punjab to procure wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO), with the province granted an immediate supply of 300,000 metric tons.

Earlier, the department had already procured 200,000 metric tons from PASSCO, where the procurement price was fixed at Rs4,150 per 40kg. This decision is being implemented in line with the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decision of January 28, 2026.

The initiative aims to maintain a steady supply of wheat and flour in Punjab to prevent shortages and market disruptions. It also hopes to support the government's commitment to keeping flour prices stable and providing Rs15 roti for consumers.
