Qatar and Iran Unite on Strait of Hormuz Mine Clearance
Iran and Qatar are considering a joint project to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow maritime passage between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The decision was made after a meeting in Tehran between the foreign ministers of both countries.
The Strait of Hormuz is crucial for global energy supply chains as approximately 20% of global oil supplies and around 25% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports pass through it. Ensuring its safety and security is paramount for international trade and economic stability.
