Qatar-Bound LNG Tanker Hit by Projectile in Strait of Hormuz

A tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar was hit by a projectile while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy shipping route.

The incident occurred on August 1 and involved the GasLog Shanghai, according to security intelligence firms and ship-tracking data. No casualties were reported, but the vessel suffered damage to its engine room and was unable to maneuver.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) had previously reported that a tanker was struck off the coast of Oman, causing damage and disrupting maritime traffic in the region.
