Qatar Condemns Iranian Attack on ADNOC Oil Tankers
The State of Qatar has strongly condemned an Iranian attack on two oil tankers belonging to ADNOC that were passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The incident is considered a severe violation of international law and a clear breach of UN Security Council resolution 2817.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar renewed its firm rejection of using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage, calling for its reopening without conditions. The ministry stressed that freedom of navigation at this vital waterway is a firmly established principle not up for compromise.
The continued closure of the strait undermines the critical interests of the region's countries and the global economy, according to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Qatar also expressed its full solidarity with the UAE and support for all measures it will take to protect its assets.
