Qatar Eyes Long-Term LNG Deals with US Amid Iran Disruptions
QatarEnergy is considering signing long-term agreements to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from US companies. This move is linked to the need for alternative supply channels to meet its obligations to customers.
According to sources, Qatar previously accounted for around one-fifth of global LNG supplies. However, shipments have virtually come to a complete halt since the United States launched military operations against Iran.
The disruption has been caused by the inability of tankers to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which is a critical waterway in the region.
