Qatar LNG Plant Explosion Kills 13 Workers in Accidental Blast
An explosion at Qatar's Barzan Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on June 22 killed at least 13 workers, according to Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Kaabi. The victims were Indian and Pakistani nationals.
The blast occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the facility, which had resumed operations just two days prior after a six-month maintenance shutdown that began in December 2025.
Initial findings suggest the incident was accidental and not the result of sabotage or deliberate action. A full investigation has been launched into the incident, with QatarEnergy and Civil Defense authorities working together to determine its cause.
