Qatar-LNG Tanker Hit by Projectile in Strait of Hormuz Disruption

A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker carrying a shipment from Qatar was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to security intelligence firms and ship tracking data.

The Gaslog Shanghai LNG tanker, managed by Greece-based Gaslog, was transporting LNG picked up from Qatar on July 27. The incident occurred near the western entrance of Hormuz on July 31, when the vessel stopped sending a signal.

A spokesperson for Gaslog confirmed that the ship was hit by an unknown projectile, causing a blackout and fire on board. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the fire was extinguished.
