Qatar Resumes LNG Shipments Through Strait of Hormuz After Three-Week Pause

Qatar has resumed shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the Strait of Hormuz, three weeks after one of its tankers was attacked in the waterway. The Al Areesh tanker, which had been idling in the Arabian Gulf since July 7, sailed through the strait with its transponder turned on and is heading to Pakistan, where it will likely deliver the LNG cargo.

The resumption of shipments suggests that QatarEnergy may be restarting deliveries after pausing journeys due to security concerns. This move could also allow the company to ramp up production at the world's largest LNG plant, which was placed on hold following the attack.

However, the situation remains tense, as a resumption in strikes by the US and Iran is deepening concerns that LNG flows through Hormuz will remain compromised. The global market is expected to remain tight due to this ongoing conflict.
