QatarEnergy-Controlled LNG Tanker Exits Strait of Hormuz After 3-Week Hiatus

A QatarEnergy-controlled liquefied natural gas tanker, Al Areesh, has exited the Strait of Hormuz for the first time in nearly three weeks. According to data from analytics firms Kpler and LSEG, the tanker left the waterway overnight on July 29.

The Al Areesh loaded a cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal around July 4-6 and is currently heading to Port Qasim, Pakistan, with an estimated arrival date of July 31. This marks the first time a QatarEnergy-controlled LNG tanker has exited the Strait since the Al Rekayyat was struck in early July.

The previous LNG tanker to exit the Strait was the Al Hamra, which left on July 11 carrying a cargo loaded at the United Arab Emirates' Das Island. Separately, the Mraweh LNG tanker reappeared inside the strait on Thursday after being last detected outside it in ballast on July 24.
