QatarEnergy-Controlled LNG Tanker Exits Strait of Hormuz After Nearly Three Weeks

A QatarEnergy-controlled liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, Al Areesh, has exited the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since July 11. The vessel loaded a cargo in Qatar's Ras-Laffan terminal between July 4-6 and sailed away from the strait overnight on July 29.

According to data from analytics firms Kpler and LSEG, Al Areesh is currently headed to Port Qasim in Pakistan with an estimated arrival date of July 31. This marks a significant development after the Al Rekayyat was struck in early July, leaving no QatarEnergy-controlled LNG tankers in the strait for nearly three weeks.

Kpler data also shows that Mraweh, a tanker controlled by ADNOC Gas, reappeared inside the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. However, it remained in ballast, indicating it may not be carrying cargo. The number of ships entering and leaving the strait has increased, with 12 commodity ships recorded on Wednesday.
