QatarEnergy LNG Tanker Exits Strait of Hormuz After Three Weeks Amid Trade Tensions

A QatarEnergy-controlled liquefied natural gas tanker has exited the Strait of Hormuz after three weeks, according to data from analytics firms Kpler and LSEG. The Al Areesh tanker, which loaded a cargo at Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal around July 4-6, sailed out of the strait overnight on July 29.

The tanker is currently heading to Port Qasim in Pakistan with an estimated arrival date of July 31. Its departure marks the first time a QatarEnergy-controlled LNG tanker exited the Strait since the Al Rekayyat was struck in early July.

Twelve commodity ships passed through the Strait on Wednesday, while visible crude loadings from Yanbu fell by at least 30% last week due to Yemen's Houthi declaration of a blockade on Saudi Arabia. Vortexa estimated that exports remained broadly stable, citing an increase in 'dark tanker' loadings.
