Qatari LNG Tanker Resumes Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Amid Ongoing Tensions
A Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker has resumed passing through the Strait of Hormuz, after a three-week pause, according to Reuters.
The vessel crossed the strait on Thursday, marking the first reported transit by a Qatari LNG vessel since shipping was disrupted.
Iran's state broadcaster IRIB reported that the tanker complied with 'Iranian rules and conditions' for passage, while Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the waterway will remain closed as long as US 'threats' and 'interference' in regional shipping continue.
Qatar is one of the world's largest exporters of LNG, accounting for about 20% of global LNG exports, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
