Qatari LNG Tankers Navigate Hormuz Despite Iran's Closure
Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers are navigating the Strait of Hormuz despite Iran's recent closure of the waterway. According to Kpler, four Qatari-controlled LNG tankers - Wadi Al Sail, Mekaines, Al Sadd, and Mesaimeer - entered the strait via the Iranian route on Monday for the first time since the US-Israeli war with Iran started in late February.
The Strait of Hormuz has seen a significant decrease in ship traffic after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared it shut again on Saturday. However, data from LSEG shows that the Marshall Islands-flagged dry bulk vessel Summit Success also entered the Gulf on Monday.
Since the war began, Qatari LNG exports have been heavily curbed. QatarEnergy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
