Qatar's LNG Exports Resume Through Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions
Qatar has sent its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo through the Strait of Hormuz since July, marking a hopeful sign for global energy markets. The vessel, Al Marrouna, is headed to Port Qasim in Pakistan with an estimated arrival date of Thursday.
This comes after Qatar virtually stopped LNG shipments following an attack on one of its tankers in late July. As a result, gas prices across Europe and Asia have spiked to their highest levels in over three years.
However, the resumption of LNG flows through the Strait of Hormuz could ease price pressures for South Asian buyers facing shortages and power cuts. Despite this, outbound LNG flows from the Persian Gulf are still below pre-war levels, indicating a slow recovery process for Qatar's LNG exports.
