Quad County Corn Processors Plant Heads to Auction Block

The Quad County Corn Processors plant in Galva, Iowa, is set to be sold at auction this month after being shut down in late 2024 due to mechanical failure. The plant, which opened in 2002 during the ethanol boom, failed to generate revenue and was unable to cover its operating expenses. In a statement, Maas Companies, the auction house conducting the sale, said the cooperative lacked the necessary capital to finance major equipment repairs and facility improvements.

The molecular sieves at the plant failed, leading to its closure, according to the auction brochure. The lender initiated foreclosure proceedings on the property, forcing the plant into a judicial sale prior to the auction. The auction is scheduled to take place this month.
