Rahim Yar Khan Flour Mills Accused of Mixing Broken Rice with Government Wheat

The city of Rahim Yar Khan has been rocked by allegations that some flour mills are mixing low-cost broken rice into government-issued wheat to produce substandard flour. The District Food Controller, Niaz Shah, took action and sealed two flour mills, Kohistan and Al-Qayum, for allegedly producing contaminated flour.

A total of nine other flour mills had their samples collected and sent to laboratories for analysis. According to sources, the broken rice is ground at private mills and transported to flour mills under the cover of night before being mixed with flour.

Citizens are calling for an investigation into the entire supply chain, from the issuance of government wheat to its use at mills and subsequent sale in the market. They also demand that samples of flour produced against government wheat permits be collected and tested under independent supervision.
