Rajasthan Crude Oil Production Set to Soar as India Pursues Energy Security
Rajasthan is set to increase its crude oil production from 51,000-52,000 barrels per day to 80,000 barrels per day. The state aims to achieve this through the use of advanced oil recovery technologies and expanded refining infrastructure.
The production push is part of India's energy security strategy, which seeks to reduce dependence on imported crude oil. According to officials, the aim is to build a more integrated domestic energy ecosystem, thereby securing the country's energy supply amid global market volatility.
Rajasthan has already begun deploying advanced extraction techniques, including the Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) flooding technique and Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) technique. These methods are expected to unlock trapped oil in mature reservoirs, thereby maximizing recovery from existing producing assets.
