Record-Breaking Stocks Fuelled by Soaring Corporate Profits

US stocks are surging toward new records as corporate profits continue to soar and oil prices ease. The S&P 500 rose 1.7% and is on track to surpass its all-time high set a couple months ago, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 966 points to its own record set just yesterday.

The rally comes despite concerns about high inflation, the war in Iran, and potential stock market bubbles fueled by artificial-intelligence euphoria. However, companies like Palantir Technologies and Caterpillar are leading the way with strong quarterly earnings, with Palantir's revenue leaping 93% and Caterpillar reporting its first $20 billion quarter.

Oil prices also dropped 4.9% to $79.64 per barrel, easing Wall Street's worries about inflation and pulling down yields in the bond market. Analysts warn that more volatility may be ahead, but for now, stocks are benefiting from strong corporate profits and lower oil prices.
