Record Gold Purchases by Central Banks Coincide with Ongoing Conflict
Central banks around the world purchased a record 289 tons of gold in the second quarter of this year, according to macroeconomic analyst Luke Gromen. This represents a 62 percent increase from the same period last year.
Gromen points out that this surge coincides with the ongoing conflict between Iran and other nations. He suggests a link between war, the loss of truth, and the vulnerability of sovereign bonds during such periods.
Gromen has previously highlighted shifting neoliberal views on China as concerns over threats to U.S. corporate profits increase. Additionally, he noted that U.S. Veterans' Benefits have climbed to a record 27 percent share of Defense Department spending.
