Natural gas futures appear headed for their first weekly gain since June 18 as record heat builds in the forecast.

Prompt month natural gas futures are trading at $2.763/MMBtu, up 3.6 cents day/day and 10.1 cents week/week as of 11:42 a.m. ET.

The increase comes amid forecasts of severe heat, which is expected to boost demand for the commodity.
