Record-High Gas Prices Expected for Labor Day
Record-high gas prices are expected for Labor Day 2026 in Seal Beach, California. The fuel savings platform GasBuddy predicts that average gas prices will reach $4.03 a gallon, an increase of 87 cents from last year and the highest holiday pump price on record, surpassing the previous record of $3.83 per gallon in 2012.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest regular gasoline in Seal Beach can be found at around $5.39 a gallon, while AAA reports an average price of $5.74 per gallon for Orange County. Nationally, gas prices averaged $4.10 a gallon on Wednesday.
The global oil shipments have been affected by the war in Iran and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, leading to elevated crude costs. Additionally, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries have knocked millions of barrels of processing capacity offline, tightening supplies of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel worldwide.
