The US Grains and Bioproducts Council's efforts to expand markets have paid off, according to Mark Wilson, the organization's immediate past chair. Speaking at the group's annual Board of Delegates meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wilson cited record corn exports as evidence of their success.

'We had record corn exports last year,' he said. 'We're on pace to beat that by 20% this year.'

Ryan LeGrand, the organization's President and CEO, attributed much of this export success to diversification efforts in over 70 countries.

'China is a great market when they're in the market,' he said. 'This year, they've taken less than 1% of our corn exports.'

The Council's work has been boosted by Congress' decision to double funds dedicated to market development in last year's reconciliation package.
