Rezaei Threatens Neighbors as Egypt Seeks Iran-US Talks
The Middle East is witnessing escalating tensions as Iran's new top security adviser, Mohsen Rezaei, issued threats against neighboring countries. He warned that if they join the US efforts to squeeze Tehran's economy, they will be considered enemies and targeted.
Rezaei made these statements in an interview with the state broadcaster IRIB, which is his most extensive public statement since being named as part of senior appointments aimed at hardening Tehran's political and military stance. He accused the US of increasing global nuclear insecurity by imposing economic warfare and isolation on Iran.
Egypt has attempted to revive US-Iran negotiations, with top diplomats from both countries discussing efforts to bring them back to the negotiating table to settle their differences. Meanwhile, Iraq and Iran have announced that Tehran has helped some ships carrying Iraqi oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
