RI Drivers Hit with Record Gas Prices This Labor Day Weekend

Rhode Island drivers are facing record-high gas prices this Labor Day weekend, according to AAA. The average price for regular gasoline has reached $4.21 per gallon, a significant increase from last year's prices and up about 15 cents from a week ago.

The national average is around $4.14 per gallon, but Rhode Island drivers are paying more due to high crude oil prices, which are trading at around $90 a barrel. Supply pressures and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are also contributing to higher prices.

Diesel fuel has reached record levels nationally, averaging about $5.85 per gallon, while in Rhode Island it's averaging around $5.75 per gallon.
