Rio Tinto Sees 43% NPAT Boost on Stronger Copper, Aluminum Prices
Rio Tinto Ltd has reported its interim earnings for 2026, showing a significant increase in underlying net profit after tax (NPAT). The company's NPAT rose by 43% year-over-year to USD 6.9 billion, or USD 4.21 per share, due to higher copper and aluminum prices.
The stronger commodity prices have had a direct impact on Rio Tinto's bottom line. As a result of this increased profitability, the company has declared an interim dividend of USD 2.11 fully franked, which is also up 43% compared to last year. This dividend payout ratio remains unchanged at 50%, sitting firmly within the midpoint of its target range of 40% to 60%.
