Riverside County Gas Prices Continue Record-Breaking Streak
The average price of gasoline in Riverside County has risen for the 27th consecutive day, according to recent figures from AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The self-serve regular gasoline price increased by 1.6 cents on Monday to $5.935, its highest amount since May 29. This marks a 41.5 cent increase over the past 27 days, including a 1.5 cent rise on Sunday.
The national average price of gas has also risen for the 14th time in 15 days, increasing by three-tenths of a cent to $4.316. This is despite the fact that gas prices typically decrease during this time due to lower gasoline demand, according to AAA. The national average price is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year.
The recent rise in oil prices can be attributed to the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran, which began on February 28. Since then, the average price of gas has increased by $1.384 in Riverside County and $1.334 nationally. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, notes that the national average is increasing during a season when gas prices typically go down.
