Romanian Chamber of Deputies Passes Bill to Speed Up Electricity and Gas Price Compensation

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies has adopted a draft law to amend ordinances regarding price compensation for electricity and natural gas. The bill aims to speed up the reimbursement of amounts by the state.

The project targets measures applicable to final customers during specific periods: from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, for electricity, and from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, for natural gas.

An important amendment increases the reimbursement advance from 40% to 60%, intended to facilitate financial flows for suppliers. The explanatory memorandum emphasizes that maintaining the current threshold generates financial difficulties, affecting market stability.
