The price of natural gas in Romania has reached a record high for this period, exceeding 360 lei/MWh at the beginning of September. This is the highest level recorded since 2022, when the war in Ukraine began.

According to an analysis by Transgaz, between February 27 and September 7, prices on the BRM increased by 125%, reaching a level nearly 2.5 times higher than seven months ago.

The development is influenced by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and uncertainties regarding energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
