Rone's UTM FLNG Project Secures Major Breakthrough with NNPC/Seplat Energy Deal
Rone's UTM FLNG project has received significant backing from Nigeria's NNPC/Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited Joint Venture, which signed a 15-year gas supply agreement in July 2026. The landmark deal is expected to unlock financing for the country's first indigenous floating LNG facility, with an estimated $3 billion price tag.
Under the agreement, the joint venture will supply 200 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to UTM FLNG over a 15-year period. This dependable long-term source of feed gas is crucial for financiers and prospective buyers to commit their money to the project.
Rone's vision for the project goes beyond just developing Nigeria's gas resources; he aims to lead Africa's gas sector as an indigenous Nigerian company, using local talent and proven technologies. He envisions a Pan-African gas expansion capable of driving industrial and economic growth across the continent.
