Rupee Hits Fifth Consecutive Gain as Foreign Inflows Offset Rising Oil Costs
The Indian rupee has marked its fifth consecutive day of gains, reaching a value of 94.46 against the US dollar on Friday, September 4, 2026.
This upward trend is largely driven by strong foreign capital inflows and the Reserve Bank of India's efforts to boost foreign-currency deposits, which have reached $136.377 billion.
However, despite this positive momentum, investors are cautious due to rising Brent crude prices, which are currently trading near $95.90 per barrel.
The increase in oil prices poses a significant headwind for the Indian economy, as higher import costs can lead to increased demand for dollars and put pressure on the rupee.
