Russia's Kremlin is accusing European countries of harming themselves by buying expensive natural gas at spot prices, according to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman. The statement was made amid rising gas prices in Europe, which have hit their highest level since late 2022 due to the conflict in Iran.

The price surge occurred after Europe cut off Russian pipeline gas following the start of the Ukraine conflict. Russia is now offering a more affordable option for European countries, but they are choosing not to take it.
