Russia Boosts Agricultural Exports to Kazakhstan by 40% in H1 2026
Russia's agricultural exports to Kazakhstan have seen significant growth in the first half of 2026, according to data from the Federal Center 'Agroexport'. Between January and June, Russia supplied Kazakhstan with 4.6 million tons of agricultural products, a year-on-year increase of 40%.
The total export revenue reached $2.1 billion, up 24% from the same period last year. This has propelled Kazakhstan to the third position among the largest markets for Russian food by shipment value, surpassing Belarus.
The main contributors to Russia's agricultural exports were wheat, sugar, chocolate products, sunflower oil, and bakery and flour products. Wheat exports in monetary terms exceeded $213 million, a fourfold increase compared to January-June 2025. Sugar sales grew by 14% to $181 million, while chocolate confectionery saw a 27% rise to $144 million.
Ilya Ilyushin, head of 'Agroexport', highlighted Kazakhstan as one of Russia's key trading partners in the agricultural sector, citing the absence of customs, financial, or other restrictions between the countries. Scientific and technical cooperation is also developing, particularly in biotechnology, breeding, and genetics.
