Russia Boosts Ship Protection Amid Ongoing Ukraine War
Russia has intensified its protection of ships in the Azov-Black Sea basin due to escalating attacks by both sides in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The Russian transport ministry announced that it had set up a task force to find alternative cargo routes and shift cargo flows to other modes of transport, following 'hostile drone attacks on maritime vessels' in the area.
The measures are being implemented together with the defense ministry to ensure navigational safety and protect maritime vessels in the region.
Russia's main grain lobby group warned that Ukrainian drone attacks could shut down grain exports via the Black Sea, causing price hikes and hunger in Africa and the Middle East.
