Russia Mulls Quotas on Corn Exports Amid Domestic Shortages

The Russian government is considering introducing seasonal quotas on corn and barley exports in 2027. The restrictions, aimed at ensuring sufficient feed grain supplies on the domestic market, could limit the presence of Russian grain on international markets.

The current corn stocks are estimated at just 0.2 million tons, down 75% from the previous period, raising concerns about a shortage of feed raw materials at the beginning of the next season.

Russian corn exports have already declined significantly, totaling around 4 million tons in 2025/26 MY, roughly half the volume recorded a year earlier. The possible introduction of quotas could further limit export revenues for Russian farmers, particularly those focused on Asian markets, where demand for Russian corn remains strong.
