Russia Plans Large-Scale Attack on Kyiv City Energy Infrastructure
Russia is planning to launch a large-scale strike campaign against Ukraine's energy infrastructure in Kyiv City over the coming weeks, according to reports. This would be part of Russia's Autumn offensives, which are expected to begin soon.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched six Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 air defense missiles from Bryansk Oblast and 151 Shahed-type, Gerbera-type, and Italmas-type strike drones and Parodiya-type decoy drones from various directions. The Air Force downed 135 of the 151 drones, with several missiles missing their targets.
Russia's use of ballistic and quasi-ballistic missiles against Ukraine has caused significant damage due to Ukraine's insufficient stocks of interceptors. Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces struck civilian and logistics infrastructure in Chernihiv, Odesa, and Kyiv oblasts, as well as a passenger train in Sumy Oblast.
The Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry forecasted that Ukraine's exports of agricultural products may be 54 percent less in the 2026-2027 marketing year than previously estimated, with wheat exports possibly falling by 53 percent. This is due to Russia's ongoing strike campaign against Ukraine's Black Sea ports, which are critical for agricultural exports.
