Russia Rejects Resumption of Black Sea Grain Deal
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that there are no grounds for resuming the Black Sea grain deal, which was agreed in July 2022 to allow the safe export of nearly 33 million metric tons of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea.
The agreement allowed Ukraine to continue exporting grain despite the ongoing war with Russia. However, Russia withdrew from the deal in 2023 due to what it claimed were obstacles to its own food and fertilizer exports.
Turkey has prepared a new plan for the safe passage of grain via the Black Sea and is contacting both countries about it. Grushko expressed skepticism about any change in the West's position, saying 'Do you see any change in the West's position? I don't.'
