Russia Rejects Ukraine Truce Offer Amid Black Sea Shipping Dispute
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Moscow rejected an offer to cease attacks on ships carrying agricultural commodities through the Black Sea. The proposal, made by Ukraine, was contingent upon Russia's guarantee against strikes on its energy infrastructure.
Zelenskyy stated, 'It looks like their position is that they will not attack our grain corridor only if we stop attacking their energy sector.'
Ukraine's agricultural exports have been severely impacted due to the ongoing conflict. The country has exported only about 500,000 tons of grain since August, which is a fifth of its potential shipments.
The Agriculture Ministry is exploring alternative routes for exports as ports in Ukraine's Greater Odesa region handle around 90% of its grain shipments.
