Russia Takes Measures to Mitigate Grain Export Disruptions
The Kremlin is taking measures to mitigate the impact of Ukrainian strikes on Russia's grain exports. The tit-for-tat attacks by both countries on ports and vessels in recent weeks have disrupted grain shipments, forcing shippers to delay or cancel loadings for dozens of cargoes during the peak export season.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said measures are being taken to ensure that all grain intended for export is shipped on time and in full. President Vladimir Putin acknowledged last week that Russia was experiencing problems with its agricultural exports, but said it would resolve them.
Russia's grain exports are expected to pick up to 2.2 million metric tons in August from 1.95 million in July, according to the Sovecon consultancy. The Kremlin chief pledged that there would be no shortages on global markets, with Russia estimating about 60 million tons of grain for export in the current season.
