Russia Turns to Indian Gasoline Amid Refinery Disruptions
Russia's oil refining system has been severely disrupted due to Ukrainian drone attacks, prompting Moscow to seek supplies from abroad. According to international media reports, Russia has received at least one cargo of gasoline from India, with two more expected to arrive within the next two weeks.
The tanker Agni loaded 68,000 metric tons of gasoline at India's Vadinar port and transferred it to an Oman-flagged ship, which then discharged the cargo at Russia's Arctic port of Vitino in early August. Traders have also sold Russia gasoline produced by Indian refiner Nayara Energy.
This move highlights the growing impact of attacks on Russia's refining system. While Russia remains a major exporter of crude oil and petroleum products, disruptions at refineries have reduced domestic fuel production and forced the government to restrict exports and seek supplies from abroad.
