Wheat futures continued their upward trend for a second consecutive session on July 29, amid escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The conflict has had significant implications for global wheat exports, with the Black Sea shipping route facing disruptions.

According to SovEcon, a consultant firm, Russian wheat export forecasts for the current season have been revised downward by approximately 4% due to navigation closures in the Sea of Azov. This reduction is attributed to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The situation has led to proposals from Russian officials to arm grain ships with machine guns and mobile missile launchers as a countermeasure against Ukrainian drone attacks.
