Russian Attacks Disrupt Ukraine's Grain Exports, Causing Losses of Up to $3 Billion
Russian attacks on Ukraine's Black Sea ports have caused significant disruptions to the country's grain exports, resulting in losses of up to $3 billion.
The attacks, which have intensified over the past month, have forced Ukrainian farmers to stop selling their products, leading to a drop in domestic wholesale prices for oilseeds and grain crops by an average of 30%.
Agriculture Minister Tapas Bysotsky described the situation as 'extremely complex' and said it is even more difficult than it was in March-April 2022.
The alternative routes via railways, roads, and the Danube River can barely absorb half of the normal export volumes, with grain wagons for Odessa falling from 4,525 to 1,356, while the flow to the Danube has increased more than sixfold - from 167 to 1,141 wagons.
