Russian Grain Exports Plummet 22.2% in First 10 Days of August

Russia's grain exports have experienced a significant decline in the first 10 days of August. According to monitoring data from the Russian Grain Union, Russia shipped 976.4 thousand tons of major grain crops for export, which is 22.2% less than in the same period last year.

The director of the RGU's analytical department, Elena Tyurina, noted that wheat shipments fell by 18.1%, to 801.5 thousand tons from 978.3 thousand tons a year earlier. Barley shipments declined by 30%, to 146.5 thousand tons from 209.8 thousand tons.

Corn shipments have also seen a significant decline, falling 2.4-fold to 28.3 thousand tons from 67.3 thousand tons. Tyurina noted that the number of crops exported in August has fallen to three - wheat, barley and corn - from 14 a year earlier.
